Medical massage is a broad descriptive term that generally applies to therapeutic massage treatments for specific injuries or chronic painful conditions. The massage therapist chooses techniques based on the condition being treated and may include hot or cold therapies to reduce pain and speed recovery. A series of medical massage treatments at specific intervals is usually recommended. A patient may be referred for treatment by their physician or chiropractor and, if the treatments are considered medically necessary, they may qualify for coverage under some health insurance plans, auto insurance personal injury protection plans or Labor and Industries if the injury or condition is work related. Cascadia Massage is able to bill many insurance plans. Please ask for more information. Medical massage sessions are 60 minutes long.
